In traditional power generation, such as coal, gas, or hydroelectric power plants, there are several types of cables used throughout the facility. For power generation, whether in traditional power or nuclear power generation, the cables are typically high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cables used to transmit large amounts of power over long distances. However, in order to keep these plants operating at maximum efficiency, they must also rely on LVDC cables to transmit control signals and data between the various components of the power plant. With nuclear power plants, additional requirements for their cables are needed in order to withstand the high levels of radiation that are present. These cables are typically made of materials that are resistant to radiation and have a high resistance to corrosion.
